Applied Science
Introduction
The Applied Science field was formed at the end of 2007 to cater for cross-disciplinary programmes, in this case, IT, Computer Science, Multimedia and Decision Science programmes. The merger of these programmes under the umbrella of Applied Science has resulted in a lively and diverse environment with a unique character. Research interests span the whole spectrum of theory and application in fundamental algorithms, web and mobile, software engineering, computer networking, intelligent and information systems, knwoledge management, and decision analysis.
The Applied Science field is headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norshuhada Shiratuddin, who is asissted by 3 Head Coordinators and 4 Coordinators. It has about 140 academic staff, 10 support and secretarial staff and a community of nearly 100 researchers including PhD students. Our research students come from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Palestine, Libya, Jordan, Iran, Iraq and UAE. In addition, in any year we have about 200 students enrolled on our taught post-graduate programmes, about three-quater of which are from overseas.
